Do you ever find yourself hanging out with your buddy, listening to a song so catchy that, instead of listening to the lyrics, you do a little axe murder?

If so, you have much in common with Patrick Bateman. You should also turn yourself into the police and seek serious help, but that’s beyond the point.

On April 14th, 2000, American Psycho opened in 1,236 theaters across America, terrifying and delighting audiences. Christian Bale has this innate ability to bring a character to life in a way that’s nearly indescribable. Is it his deep, and possibly unhealthy, commitment to his characters? Probably. Using only an American accent on set during the production doesn’t seem that bad. Physically changing his body to look the part? A good physique never hurt anyone! Following Bateman’s lengthy morning routine every day to get into character? Well, that’s somewhere between good self-care and psychopathic.

Whatever your thoughts are, we can all agree that the nuanced serial killer he brought to life is incredible.

The character of Bateman was offered to a multitude of actors before they landed on Bale. Ewan McGregor, Billy Crudup, and countless others were all considered. Leonardo DiCaprio was up for the role but asked for $21 million just to play the character. With Bale in the role, the whole production cost only $7 million with most of the budget going towards the soundtrack.

The book that this story is based on and the movie differ in a multitude of ways; One of the major ones being the year in which they take place. While the book takes place is 1989, the movie takes place in 1987.

A large majority of classic cocktails have a heavily debated history, with variations appearing throughout history and endless stories of where and when they were invented. The Cosmopolitan is one such drink. The only thing that is known for certain is that a wonderful bartender by the name of Toby Cecchini is credited in formally inventing and naming the Cosmopolitan. This happened at Manhattan's Odeon in the year 1987.

Would Bateman be sucking down Cosmo after Cosmo? Maybe. More likely, he’d be too busy chasing a half-naked sex worker with a chainsaw. Either way, cheers to number eleven of thirteen:
